Mt. Clear
This couple envisioned a small house that includes a bedroom, a fully accessible bathroom, a kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, a washer/dryer space and potentially an exterior porch. The design prioritized the home’s relationship to the site, an intentionally landscaped garden of flowers and hedges brimming their original home, a building initially constructed in the mid-eighteen hundreds as a tavern for travelers. Special care in siting the house in relation to the garden was a key part of the design process, as was detailing the new house with respect to the historic home.
